本周我们来与学校规章制度有关的词汇:

1. plagiarism /'pleɪdʒərɪz(ə)m/

n. 剽窃;抄袭

e.g. The student has been accused of plagiarism.

雅思听力1-2-4:Plagiarism is taking other people’s work without acknowledging it, that is, without saying where it comes from. Of course all essays are based on

research done by other people, but you must remember toattributethe work to the original writer.

补充:attribute to 认为(文章、艺术品或评论) 出自…

v. plagiarize 剽窃;抄袭

e.g. Academic integrity is essential, and students are generally not allowed to cheat on exams, plagiarize content, or engage in any form of academic dishonesty.

其他补充:cheating 作弊

2. bully /'bʊlɪ/

v. 霸凌;欺凌

搭配:bully someone into doing sth. 迫使某人做某事

e.g. Our survey indicates that one in four children is bullied at school.

e.g. His boss bullied him into working overtime.

雅思写作:What do you think are the causes of bullying?

e.g. Not getting enough attention or affection from parents and teachers can result in bullying other classmates. They end-up in the act of bullying to ensure that they get enough attention and consideration.

n. bully 恃强凌弱者;

bullying 恃强凌弱的行为

不同类型:physical; verbal; cyberbullying

e.g. Sometimes,bulliesare past victims ofbullying. They cannot get over the humiliation they suffered at the hands of their tormentors and now want to subject their weaker peers to the same humiliation.

补充:humiliation 耻辱;屈辱

tormentor 折磨他人的人

3. vandalize /ˈvændlˌaɪz/

v. 故意破坏;肆意捣毁

e.g. Students are not allowed to vandalize or destroy school property. This includes graffiti, damage to facilities.

e.g. The walls had been horribly vandalized with spray paint.

n. vandalism 故意破坏(或损坏)财产的行为

口语话题:Is it easy to protect historical buildings?

e.g. Protecting historical buildings can be challenging. Some historical buildings are subjected to vandalism, graffiti, or theft of valuable artifacts.

补充:be subjected to 遭受

4. disruptive /dɪs'rʌptɪv/

adj. 破坏性的; 捣乱的

搭配:disruptive students 难管的;爱捣乱的学生

disruptive behavior 捣乱行为

e.g. He was expelled from school for disruptive behavior.

e.g. He got detention for disruptive behavior in class.

补充: be expelled from 被开除

detention 课后留校处罚
